Michael Cavna sums up a rough fortnight for political cartoonists and newspaper editors, and asks an important question: What if publishers decide it’s too much trouble to do their damn job?   https://www.washingtonpost.com/arts-entertainment/2020/06/23/political-cartoons-racist-small-newspapers/ “In my mind, editorial cartoons are expendable.

Annual Convention

The largest gathering of political cartoonists, editorial illustrators and graphic journalists in the world

The AAEC's annual convention is the largest gathering of political cartoonists, editorial illustrators and graphic journalists in the world. Usually held every fall in a different American city, or on the campus of a major university, cartoonists and satirists meet for four entertaining days of informative panels, timely guest speakers, industry workshops, pub crawls, and networking.

The AAEC often works with the U.S. State Dept. or Cartoonists Rights Network International to bring visiting cartoonists from Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. We frequently invite the public to join us for big events dubbed “Satire Festival” or “Cartoonapalloza.”

In 2020, we will be moving our annual gathering up to May 14-17 and will be joining the Association of Canadian Cartoonists for a joint convention in Ontario. Click here for complete information and hotel links!
